Work Health Safety and Environment
This statement outlines Pallion’s commitment to Work Health, Safety and the Environment and details the WHS&E responsibilities of all workers undertaking work on Pallion sites.
Goldenage is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for all employees contractors and visitors/clients.
To meet its obligations under the Work Health & Safety Act 2011, Pallion is committed to:
Complying with legislative requirements, codes, standards and guidelines
Setting up objectives and targets with the aim of eliminating work related incidents in relation to our activities, products and services
Defining roles and responsibilities for work, health and safety
Providing resources to ensure a safe workplace and safe work system and adequate facilities for the welfare of employees at work
Pallion’s commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment is supported by the Company Directors.
The Directors of Pallion support a pro-active program including:
Promotion of safe systems of work
Using the hierarchy of control for identified workplace hazards
Accident prevention
Health and safety education and training
Consultation between Management and employees
Distributing health and safety information, including this policy, to all employees and interested parties
Providing enough resources to ensure Work Health & Safety is a central part of the Group
Ensuring all incidents are investigated and corrective actions implemented
Ensuring effective injury Management and rehabilitation is provided to all employees, to support workers to recover at work and return to work as soon as medically appropriate.
Safety management isn’t the responsibility of one person – it is the responsibility of everyone on site. The success of Pallion’s Work Health Safety and Environment management relies upon a personal commitment of all employees at Pallion irrespective of their position. Managers must be familiar and actin accordance with this policy to ensure compliance and to report any breaches.
All workers are accountable for their own safety and the safety of others, and employees at all levels are required to actively pursue overall Work Health Safety and Environment objectives. All reasonable steps should be taken to prevent injuries and to act immediately to remove or identify any risks to themselves and others.
The objectives of this policy are as far as reasonably practicable listed below:
Risks to work health and safety are controlled through the participation of all stakeholders in a culture of safety
Safe systems of work are provided and maintained at workplaces
Employees are provided with information, education and supervision needed for them to work safety and without risk to their health
The health of employees and the conditions of the workplace are monitored through legislative requirements as required and also by review of role, structure and team.
Adequate facilities are provided for the welfare of employees including contractors
Health and safety policies and procedures comply with legislative requirements
Safety performance is continually reviewed and improved
Environmental Management is not just the responsibility of one person- it is the responsibility of everyone on site. We ask workers to note the below:
All workers undertaking work at Pallion sites must take all reasonable and practicable measures to prevent or minimise any environmental harm that the activity may cause.
All workers must report environmental incidents to their manager.
Spill and leaks must be reported to the manager. Workers are expected to assist in the clean-up if trained and where appropriate.
All workers must participate in the prevention of pollution by disposing of waste in accordance with company procedures and legislative requirements.
All workers are expected to participate in Pallion’s sustainability initiatives, including recycling.
EnvironmentalStatementof Commitment
As a fully integrated precious metals group, Pallion recognises that there are both direct and indirect impacts associated with its activities, products and services. Pallion is committed to running its business in a responsible, environmentally sound and sustainable manner.
Goldenage is committed to:
- Protection of the environment, through improved efficiency in use of natural resources as well as supply chain management and purchasing metals from verified sustainable sources
- Prevention of pollution specifically through source reduction or elimination; reuse and recycling of materials; recover and treatment of wastes; or controlled disposal
- Fulfilling compliance obligations
- Identifying the environmental impacts of its activities, products and services
- Setting environmental objectives to address the identified environmental impacts
- Continual improvement of the environmental management system to enhance environmental performance
- Developing and maintaining appropriate emergency and spill response programs
Promoting environmental awareness in workers through education and training on environmental issues and the effects of their activities
The environmental WHSE policy will be communicated to all persons working for or on behalf of Pallion and made available to interested parties and will be revised annually.
